Who am I?
I'm Lucy, your local experienced Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioner based in Solihull. I have been in clinical practice since 2011 and so I have helped a wealth of different people achieve wellness. I work with commitment, compassion, critical-thinking and conscientiousness. It is not enough to send people away with a list of ideals setting them up to fail, I work with each individual so that they have the targets and information they need to achieve. Therefore it is vital to me that I get to know every patient, not only their health picture; but also their lifestyle, family situation, time restraints and passions in life!
Where am I?
I take consultations in Solihull where I can see people from the surrounding areas including Warwickshire and Birmingham suburbs and also now taking on clients in Leamington Spa. I am also available for home visits and skype consultations depending on your health, preference and availability.
I am a full member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and the British Association for Applied Nutrition & Nutritional Therapy (BANT). I am committed to keeping up-to-date with the latest health news and research material. For continued professional development I attend seminars, lectures, workshops and subscribe to medical journals to keep abreast of current health news articles.
My philosophy is not about placing limitations and restrictions on people but helping them to listen to their body and to the symptoms it demonstrates to make wiser, more informed decisions about their food intake and health, using nutrient support where necessary to gain equilibrium once again.
What's my story?
I was diagnosed with an Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the age of 9 - a medical rarity at the time. Unfortunately, these types of disease in the very young is no longer very unusual. Therefore, I have been through the spectrum of emotion that comes with a chronic illness. I have been hospitalised, medicalised, traumatised and dis-engaged with my body. This has shaped the way I view my clients. I don't judge or shame.
How did I get here?
I trained at the well-respected College of Naturopathic Medicine in London where I gained a diploma in naturopathic nutrition. I now practise privately in the Midlands areas.
What is naturopathy?
Naturopathic nutrition is a holistic therapy that treats everyone as an individual, taking into account the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of the whole person when assessing health problems. It seeks to address biochemical imbalances in the body by creating optimal conditions to enhance the body’s natural healing power through diet, lifestyle and possibly supplementation.
I must add...
Your consultation will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, and I am happy to write to a GP or other medical practitioner if you require that service. I am used to analysing blood results, interpreting medical jargon and test results and making referrals back to the medics when the need arises.
If you are already under the care of a physician, I will happily work alongside them to help you achieve wellness through nutrition.
